Both men are stunned when just then Druffle appears swathed in bandages after being attacked by the bees, to which he is allergic. Upon returning to the college, Higgins tells Lufkin that Druffle's bee experiment is the school's last chance. In his business office, Arno and his henchmen, Cookie and Alfred, also watch the tournament and ponder Higgins' odd inconsistency. Learning of the tournament from Druffle too late, Dexter misses the plane and is forced to watch the competition on television where Higgins' game against two professionals is a disaster, missing the cut, and finally being washed up in the current of the ocean water. Arno and Chillie try to go after them in Dexter's dune buggy but are stopped and arrested by the police when they collide with their patrol car. After Medfield wins the $100,000 prize, they catch up with them again at the television studio where Dexter sees them and makes a run for it with Peter. The school buddies manage to lose them for a while by spray painting the windshield, causing them to crash into a farm and end up in a bale of hay. Arno, Chillie, and the rest of Arno's henchmen give chase in Dexter's dune buggy, which his school buddies forgot to take with them. Meanwhile, Dexter's school buddies manage to get him out of the Hancock Place and drive him to the television studio where the quiz show is being taped while, at the same time, trying to get Dexter out of the trunk.
Arno shows up and calls up the Medfield Paint Company himself and finds out that Chillie's been had by a bunch of Dexter's school buddies. One of Dexter's school buddies, Richard Schuyler, answers the phone and tells him that everything's okay. Chillie is baffled to see painters outside painting the house and calls up the Medfield Paint Company to see if everything's on the up and up. The next morning, Peter, Annie, and some of his school buddies go to the Hancock Place, masquerading as painters, with the intention of saving Dexter from Arno's henchmen. Chillie and that henchman decide to lock Dexter in a trunk and throw him in a lake with the intention of leaving him there to die. Arno says that Dexter cannot live, not with that photographic memory of his. Chillie tells that very same henchman that A.J. Some time after that, one of Dexter's buddies and girlfriend, Peter Osho and Annie, follow Chillie to that hideout and see Dexter, through a window, helping one of Arno's henchmen with some gambling bets while eating a bucket of chicken. Arno orders Chillie to pick Dexter up and take him to the Hancock Place, a hideout. Arno, is shocked at hearing Dexter Reilly spout out information about their illegal gambling ring after hearing a question about "applejack," which is A.J. Some time after getting out of jail and while watching Dexter Reilly on a College Bowl-type show on television, Chillie, as well as A.J. Arno later tells Chillie to take Dexter Reilly to Garibaldi's, a gambling joint where they get arrested in a police raid. Market Doodle wins the race, sending Chillie into disbelief. Arno takes his suggestion and orders Chillie to put $200 on Market Doodle.
